Comprehensive Dental Care

Priory Dental Wells

We provide a reassuring service whatever your level of dental need.

At Priory Dental the whole team are committed to providing you and your family with a personal, yet comprehensive approach to dental care. This includes the prevention of dental problems and a considered approach to dental solutions where they are necessary. This may mean pointing out problems before they become critical including gum disease and problems with existing dental work such as root fillings, crowns and bridges. We want you to be able to make sensible informed decisions about how you want to manage your dental health going forwards. We will never force you into a particular course of action, but instead we give you all the options and information you need to make your own decisions. We understand that the right option for one person is not necessarily the same for another and we will work with you to find the right solutions for you. In many cases we are able to provide patients with reassurance about their current state of oral health and help them manage any risks for the future.

Preventative Dentistry

All our dentists are experienced in providing preventative care and advice at regular dental examinations. This includes advice and instruction on the best way to care for your teeth and mouth and prophylactic interventions such as scaling and professional hygiene. We also undertake examinations of the soft tissues in order to identify conditions which may require further investigation. This includes screening for oral cancers which although rare, are important for us to detect as early as we can.

Family Dentistry

We see lots of children and families at the practice and encourage parents to get their children used to visiting us so that if and when they need our help, they are used to the practice environment and our staff. The British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) recommend that a child’s first dental checkup should be by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth coming through (see Dental Check By One for more information).  Although in many cases we feel that this exact timing isn’t critical, it does help their familiarisation and our ability to provide preventative advice if they attend from an early age. Therefore please get in touch at the earliest opportunity so that we can make arrangements for your child to be seen.

Treatment Options

We also appreciate that not everyone wants to see us on the same basis and we therefore offer an number of ways of paying for dental care including private pay as you go, dental plans and an NHS scheme where limited capacity allows.  Despite differences in these ways of seeing us we aim to provide the same high level of care to all our patients and encourage you to see us regularly so that we can identify problems before they become more serious. This is crucial to maintaining your oral health and we therefore apologise that if you haven’t been to see us for over two years you may need to register as a new patient before we can see you again. This is simply in order that adequate time can be put over to reassessing your level of oral health when we see you again. Don’t worry though – we will always try to help whatever the problem!

Dental Plans

Our dental plans offer a convenient way to pay for your routine checkups and/or hygiene visits by direct debit. Please see our Fees and Dental Plans pages for more information. Although these options are available to you, the majority of our patients continue to opt to pay as they go and it is important to note that none of our currently available plans include the cost of restorative dental treatment such as fillings, crowns, bridges and dentures. Whichever option you choose we look forward to welcoming you and your family to the practice and to providing you with quality dentistry in a friendly environment.
