About Priory Dental Wells

Priory Dental Wells

Practice Tour

Originating as far back as the early 1900s, the practice has a long history involving many generations of Wells dentists. Stories passed down include those of the early dentists treating troops stationed at Rodney Stoke during the First World War. These dentists mainly worked under their own names from original premises on Chamberlain Street and New Street before moving to Priory Road in 1991. At one point the dentists even had a branch practice in Cheddar.  During the 1990s and early 2000s the practice was limited by having only two operating rooms. Having a loyal following of regular patients, this meant that for many years the practice took on very few new patients and did no advertising whatsoever.

In recent years a huge amount has changed.  The practice became known as Priory Dental in 2016 and has built a reputation for advanced, modern dental care with the arrival of a new age of dentistry. The facilities have doubled in size following extensive refurbishment and modernisation. The building is now a tardis, appearing to be much like a residential bungalow from the outside but containing some of the most spacious operating rooms around. It offers four large, light and airy surgeries with the latest dental equipment all on the same level. This avoids the need for patients and staff to negotiate multiple levels and gives ideal disabled access, including disabled toilet facilities. We also have a very modern sterilisation room in which all our dental instruments are processed using the latest vacuum sterilisation technology. This makes us one of the most modern and well-equipped surgeries anywhere and is part of the reason why we have been able to attract such a highly skilled team to work with us.
