For less urgent health needs, contact your GP or local pharmacist in the usual way.

NOTE: You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but in the event of an immediate, life-threatening emergency, continue to call 999.

What is a dental emergency?

A dental EMERGENCY is when a patient needs to seek immediate attention to reduce the risk of serious medical complications. Situations that may bring this type of emergency on are:

  • Trauma to the teeth or jaw (not including dentures)

  • Profuse bleeding following an extraction

  • Increasing swelling around the throat or eye area

URGENT treatment is required if you present with...

  • Dental and facial pain, which is not controlled with over the counter pain killers

  • Significant dental and soft tissue infections

In the case of these emergencies and where you call us before 10am we will endeavour to see you the same day
